Your Questions Answered

Answers to the most frequently asked questions.

What is a covered call?

A covered call is an options trading strategy where you sell (write) call options against shares of stock you already own. Here's how it works:

Step 1: You own 100 shares of a stock (or multiples of 100)

Step 2: You sell a call option at a strike price above the current stock price

Step 3: You collect the option premium immediately as income

Outcome: If the stock stays below the strike price, you keep both the premium and your shares. If it rises above the strike, your shares get "called away" at the strike price, but you still profit from the premium plus any appreciation up to the strike. It's one of the most popular income-generating strategies for long-term investors.

How does the scanner work?

Our scanner uses real-time market data to identify the most profitable covered call opportunities:

Quick Scan Mode: Enter stock symbols and your available cash amount. The scanner analyzes which stocks to buy and which call options to sell for maximum return on investment.

Evaluate Existing Holdings: Enter a stock you already own, number of shares, and your average purchase price. The scanner finds optimal call options to sell against your position.

Analysis: For each opportunity, we calculate the option premium, potential profit if shares are called away. We present the most profitable contracts in an easy to understand financial display.

You can filter results by in-the-money vs out-of-the-money options, expiration timeframes, and profitability thresholds. Results are ranked by potential return, so the best opportunities appear first.

How much do scans cost?

Our scanner uses a credit-based system for flexible, pay-as-you-go pricing:

Credit System: Each scan operation consumes credits. The exact amount depends on the scan type and number of symbols analyzed.

Purchase Options: Buy credits in bulk packages with volume discounts. Larger packages offer better value per credit.

Free Credits: New users receive complimentary credits to test the platform. No credit card needed. Try it, if if it's not for you no need to worry about canceling.

Can I scan multiple symbols at once?

Yes! Multi-symbol scanning is one of our core features:

Batch Scanning: Enter multiple stock symbols (comma or space separated) and scan them all in a single operation. This is perfect for analyzing your entire watchlist at once.

What data sources do you use?

We use enterprise-grade market data to ensure accuracy and reliability.

Best Available Spreads: Our scanner displays contracts with the tightest bid-ask spreads available at the moment of your scan. This helps you identify the most liquid options with better execution potential.

Broker Differences: Please note that bid and ask prices can vary between brokers. The prices shown in our scanner represent market-wide data, but your actual execution price may differ slightly depending on your broker's pricing and liquidity.

Always Verify: We recommend confirming the current bid/ask prices in your brokerage platform before placing any trades. Market conditions can change rapidly, especially during volatile periods.

How to use the scanner?

Our scanner is designed to help you narrow down on specific covered call contracts that match your investment goals. Here's how to get the most out of it:

Step 1 - Scan: Use Quick Scan to discover opportunities based on your available cash, or Portfolio Scan to find options for stocks you already own. The scanner will analyze all contracts and surface the most promising ones.

Step 2 - Review Results: Examine the scan results carefully. Look at the premium amounts, strike prices, expiration dates, and the "% Move Needed" indicator to understand the likelihood of assignment.

Step 3 - Verify with Your Broker: Once you've identified a contract of interest, always verify the current bid/ask prices in your brokerage platform before placing any trades. Prices can vary between brokers and change throughout the trading day.

Be Aware of Volatility: During periods of high market volatility, option prices can change rapidly. A contract that looked attractive moments ago may have different pricing when you go to execute. Always double-check before committing.

Do Your Research: The scanner is a powerful tool to help you find opportunities, but it's not financial advice. Before trading, make sure you understand the risks of covered calls, have a clear exit strategy, and are comfortable with the possibility of your shares being called away.
